Tonight at Levi's Stadium, Super Bowl LX offers a dream matchup for Iron Bowl historians. It features a clash between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks—and former Alabama and Auburn stars are front and center.
The Rookie Phenom: Jalen Milroe
Just over a year ago, Jalen Milroe was leading Alabama to the College Football Playoff. Tonight, he becomes one of the few rookie quarterbacks to ever start in a Super Bowl. Drafted by Seattle in 2025, Milroe's dual-threat ability has taken the NFL by storm, reminiscent of his heroics in the 2023 Iron Bowl.
"It's just football," Milroe told reporters this week. "Whether it's Bryant-Denny or Levi's Stadium, the mission is the same."
The Bama Defense: Christian Barmore
Standing in Milroe's way is a familiar face: Christian Barmore. The Patriots' defensive tackle has blossomed into one of the league's most dominant interior disruptors. Barmore, a key piece of Alabama's 2020 national title team, will be tasked with collapsing the pocket and keeping Milroe contained.
Joining Barmore on the Patriots defense is LB Anfernee Jennings, making this a true Crimson Tide reunion.
Auburn Represented
The Tigers are in the game too. Carlton Davis III (Patriots) will be locking down receivers on the outside, looking to add a Super Bowl ring to his résumé. On the Seahawks' sideline, linebacker Derick Hall provides speed off the edge, looking to chase down his former rival.
Prediction: While the Patriots' defense is elite, Jalen Milroe has made a career out of defying the odds. Expect the rookie to have one "Gravedigger-esque" moment tonight.
